1886 Shortly before the State Postal system was absorbed into the Imperial Post, bi-colored Essays were produced. The Essay's central design is the portrait of the ruler with “RAJPIPLA POSGE” and “1 ANNA” below it. These were never put into production as, shortly after the essays were produced, the State’s general and postal administration was taken over by the Imperial Government. The stamp is lithographed on unwatermarked wove paper perf. 11.5. “SPECIMEN” in green ink is printed diagonally on the back. A detailed article on the Essay by HDS Haverbeck first appeared in the “Philatelic Journal of India” in October 1977. A subsequent article on the Essay by Dan Walker was published in “India Post” Volume 44 page 110-111. A total of either six or eight such Essays exist. 2025 ISES certificate
