Air mail cover from Cochin to USA franked with India KGVI ½a purple strip of 4 + 1, 2a vermillion, 3a bright violet all tied by "WILLINGDON ISLAND / 8 SEP 44" cds additionally franked with Cochin 1943 9p ultramarine perf. 11 and 3p on 6p perf. 13x13½ both tied by large 'CBM' in blue with censor label with Miami transit cds and 'PITTSFIELD, MASS / REGISTERED / OCT 18 1944" delivery cds in purple. It is suggested that CBM stamps for 'Cochin Mail Bag' or 'Cochin Maritime Board'. This is the first example of e CBM cancel we have seen in 40 years. 2025 ISES certificate.
